Deconstructing the selfie stick.

Selfie sticks are so stupid.  I do not understand why they even exist in the first place... It's so pathetic that we have come to the point in our existence where people would actually pay for a stick that makes taking a selfie easier.  Not only do tourists stick out like a sore thumb when they use their selfie sticks, but they also make it too easy for a thief to steal their camera.   What's more, you look like a straight up fool with your selfie stick in the air.  Are people really willing to risk having their camera or dignity taken from them just so they can take a selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower?

Prior to the selfie stick phenomenon of 2014, people would have to rely on their social skills to have their picture taken.  I know: the thought of someone having to do this is daunting.   Back in the day, people weren't afraid to make a friend and ask a stranger for help.  However, nowadays people place more value on their smart phones, creating a need to be super protective.  As a result, it is harder for people to trust one another, because naturally everyone wants to steal your camera/smartphone so you have to be careful.

As someone who has had a lot stolen from her, I can sympathize with people not wanting to  ask a total stranger to take their picture.  At the same time however, people shouldn't give any reason not to trust them.  Ideally, everyone should be living in harmony and love with one another, but because there is such a division between the haves and the have-nots, people have been conditioned to protect their precious smart phones.
